Christina Georgina Rossetti

Christina Georgina Rossetti (December 5, 1830December 29, 1894) was an English poet, widely considered the greatest of the Victorian era. Her siblings were the artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Michael Rossetti, and Maria Francesca Rossetti. Their father, Gabriele Rossetti, was an Italian poet and a political asylum seeker from Naples; their mother, Frances Polidori, was the sister of Lord Byron’s friend and physician, John William Polidori.

Historians

Historians are scholars and authors concerned with the continuous, systematic narrative and research of past events as relating to the human race, as well as the study of all events in time.

There are a number of different branches of history. The oldest one being Chinese due to China being the oldest continuous civilisation with their written system still intact.[citation needed] The History of China as recorded in traditional historical records extends as far back as the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors about 5,000 years ago.[citation needed] Recorded history is supplemented by archaeological records dating back to the 16th century BC.[1]

History

History is the study of the past, focused on human activity and leading up to the present day.[1] More exactly, history is the field of research producing a continuous narrative and a systematic analysis of past events of importance to the human race,[1] including the study of events over time and their relation to humanity.[2] Those who study history as a profession are called historians.

A creditor

A creditor is a party (e.g. person, organization, company, or government) that has a claim to the services of a second party. The first party, in general, has provided some property or service to the second party under the assumption (usually enforced by contract) that the second party will return an equivalent property or service. The second party is frequently called a debtor or borrower

Bankruptcy

Bankruptcy is a legally declared inability or impairment of ability of an individual or organizations to pay their creditors. Creditors may file a bankruptcy petition against a debtor (”involuntary bankruptcy”) in an effort to recoup a portion of what they are owed. In the majority of cases, however, bankruptcy is initiated by the debtor (a “voluntary bankruptcy” that is filed by the bankrupt individual or organization

A shareholder or stockholder

A shareholder or stockholder is an individual or company (including a corporation) that legally owns one or more shares of stock in a joint stock company. A company’s shareholders collectively own that company. Thus, such companies strive to enhance shareholder value. Stockholders are granted special privileges depending on the class of stock, including the right to vote (usually one vote per share owned, but sometimes this is not the case) on matters such as elections to the board of directors, the right to propose shareholder resolutions, the right to share in distributions of the company’s income, the right to purchase new shares issued by the company, and the right to a company’s assets during a liquidation of the company. However, stockholder’s rights to a company’s assets are subordinate to the rights of the company’s creditors. This means that stockholders typically receive nothing if a company is liquidated after bankruptcy (if the company had had enough to pay its creditors, it would not have entered bankruptcy), although a stock may have value after a bankruptcy if there is the possibility that the debts of the company will be restructured.

unconscious mind

Various observers throughout history have argued that there are influences on consciousness from other parts of the mind. These observers differ in the use of related terms, including: unconsciousness as a personal habit; being unaware and intuition. Terms related to semi-consciousness include: awakening, implicit memory, the subconscious, subliminal messages, trance, and hypnosis. Whilst sleep, sleep walking, delirium and coma may signal the presence of unconscious processes, these processes are not the unconscious mind. Science is also in its infancy in exploring the limits of consciousness.

Bezique

Bezique (in French, bézique) is a melding and trick-taking card game for two players.

It was developed in France in the seventeenth century from the game piquet and gained its greatest popularity in Britain in the mid-nineteenth century. Perhaps the most famous proponent of the game was Winston Churchill, an avid player and early expert of Six-Pack, or “Chinese,” Bezique. There is some evidence that the English writers Wilkie Collins and Christina Rossetti were also enthusiasts.
